Employer cost = gross salary.
In North Macedonia every payslip runs on the gross concept (систем на бруто плата): the employer withholds the mandatory contributions and a flat 10% income tax, so what lands in your account is already net. This calculator starts from the gross salary and deducts what is actually deducted.
The contributions are charged on the contribution base — a base with a floor and a ceiling — and are all the employee’s, inside gross. The tax is a flat 10% on gross minus contributions minus the personal allowance.

How the monthly deduction works
Contributions come off the gross first, charged on the contribution base (clamped between a floor and a ceiling); every contribution is the employee’s, so there is no employer layer above gross.
The tax base is the gross minus those contributions minus the personal allowance; the flat 10% then applies to it. The per-fund split of the contributions changed mid-2026 — but the 28% total, and your net pay, did not.

FAQ
Answers on net pay, the flat tax and contributions.
Why your net pay differs from the gross on the contract
The contract number is gross. What reaches your account is net — after the contributions and the flat 10% tax.
Above the contribution ceiling, contributions stop rising, so a higher gross keeps a larger share as net.
What the breakdown tells you
The distribution bar splits the gross into net, contributions and tax, so you can see where each denar goes.
The comparison only holds net against net — never gross against a figure from another country.
