Pension age
An old-age pension is available once you reach the statutory age with the required years of pension service.
Men: 64 years
Men qualify for an old-age pension at 64 years, with at least 15 years of pension service (чл. 18).
Women: 62 years
Women qualify for an old-age pension at 62 years, with at least 15 years of pension service (чл. 18) — a different age from men, but the same required service.
There is no route to an old-age pension on years of service alone, regardless of age — no such provision was found in the articles of the Pension Insurance Act reviewed for this page.
No general early (reduced-age) old-age pension route was found either — the review of чл. 18–19 found no such basis. That does not mean the age can never be lower: чл. 19 lowers the THRESHOLD age itself for augmented service duration, a different mechanism from an early pension with a percentage reduction, and it is not covered by this site.
